Details about Expertise / Competences / Technologies
TRIESTE CONTEMPORANEA. DIALOGUES WITH THE ART OF CENTRAL EASTERN EUROPE. is a committee created in
June 1995 with the objective of bringing out the role of Trieste as a hinge between cultures of Western Europe,
the countries of Eastern Europe and the countries of the Mediterranean area. Through collaborations, co-
productions and exchanges on an international level, the Committee carries out in Trieste and abroad an activity
mainly dedicated to CEE contemporary arts and culture.
Our expertise is about contemporary art in multiple research fields. We specialize in developing relationships
and partnerships with Eastern European territories (public and private institutions and organization are involved
as well single culture professionals such as artists, curators and researchers).
Due to historical phase of delicate transition, that will lead to digitally acquiring contemporary works, we
propose ourselves as a reference for research and development projects that deal with computer digitalization.
Our approach proposes the study of new standards that can satisfy both, the technological logics and archival
needs for recording and keeping new digital contents and the requests coming from artists and professional
researchers in the field.

International and national projects beyond EU Framework Programme
For carrying out our mission activity we regularly conceive and take part in international CEE projects (that include
partnerships with institutions, museums and organisations in the field of contemporary visual art).
From 2003 we organise every two years the CEI Venice Forum for Contemporary Art Curators, to be held in Venice
during the opening-days of the International Biennale Art Exhibition. The Forum deals with the topics of cultural
promotion and the exchange of curatorial experiences. The initiative is opened to CEE experts and curators and to the
commissioners of the Venice Biennale responsible for the national pavilions of the CEE countries. The event is a Central
European Initiatives Feature Cultural Event.
We were partner in the SSH Smuggling Anthologies project (lead partner MMSU-Museum of Modern and Contemporary
Art, Rijeka, Croatia) co-funded by the European Commission - CULTURE PROGRAMME 2007-2013, STRAND 1.2.1
