 Brief description of your activity focus WIFO is Austria’s leading institute for applied empirical economic research.
 Details about Expertise / Competences / Technologies The Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO) was founded in 1927 by Friedrich August von Hayek and Ludwig von Mises. Today WIFO is Austria’s leading institute for applied empirical economic research aiming at providing the theoretical and empirical foundations for evidence-based policy-making and entrepreneurial decision-making. WIFO analyses and forecasts economic developments in Austria and abroad. The institute also conducts studies for domestic authorities and institutions as well as European/international institutions (European Commission, European Parliament, World Bank, OECD, etc.), based on extensive data bases and solid experience in data handling as well as a broad variety of economic/econometric models. WIFO has acted as coordinator and partner in numerous projects within the EU Framework Research Programmes and has significant experience in the dissemination of research results on the national and European level.
