Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University is one of the biggest regional university in Belarus. It has Certificate of
quality management system conformity to the requirements of STB ISO 9001-2009.The university has 7 faculties,
providing training specialists in 31 specialities. One of the branches of the university scientific research is socio-
political and cultural processes in Belarus. Department of Political Science and Sociology is part of the Faculty of
Economics and Law, it was founded in 1990. Such problems are being worked at as «Socio-political aspects of the
sustainable development of the Republic of Belarus implementation», «Transformation processes in modern
Belarusian society: the social dimension» «The sociological analysis of the social identity of the individual in
transforming society» and others. These topics are considered the main social changes over the past 25 years,
including the transition to private ownership and a market economy, changes in value systems of different socio-
demographic groups, the processes of internal and external migration. As a basic research method applied
sociological surveys. The department also has a student scientific sociological group.

Co-investigator Rural communities as a mechanism for the reproduction of the traditional elements of national identity
in the transformed societies (Armenia and Belarus). Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research Grant
(№20114736). Other partner: Yerevan State University, 2 year research project.
On the basis of the developed methodology of sociological expertise, the influence of socio-economic and cultural-
psychological factors on the development of rural communities in the context of the formation of national identity is
investigated. In particular, linguistic culture, national traditions in everyday rural life, socio-economic aspects of leisure
activities of rural residents were studied. The potential of the rural community as a subject of social policy was
assessed.
