Brief description of your activity focus
Researcher with several years of experience in Innovation Management (public and private sector organisations)

Details about Expertise / Competences / Technologies
I have had over 7 years of experience in teaching innovation-related subjects at various faculties (Faculty of
Public Administration, Management Koper/Capodistria, Faculty of Commercial and Business Sciences) and
possess a habilitation as an Assistant professor. My main areas of expertise are management, strategy, leadership,
economic performance, international business practices, and the economic
role of innovation.

In my work, I believe, we should look above fences and be receptive to ideas of others at personal and
organisational level. Only through this, we can overcome the »not invented here« syndrome and give a try for
unusual ideas, frequently leading to radical innovation. Therefore, I have cooperated with some of the most
innovative countries.I have cooperated within the Open Innovation Network Project, led by Lappeenranta
University of Technology in Finland. In addition, I initiated a cooperation with the Centre for European Economic
Research (ZEW) in Mannheim, Germany, where I was particularly interested in what Slovenian companies can learn
from one of Europes most economically successful economies (mainly strategy and leadership). The challenging
task required developing an original method for best practice transfer, based on a quantitative management model
and additional qualitative data, helping the models absorption in companies.I presented other internationally
relevant results of my work to several hundred Slovenian companies, in multiple original scientific articles,
conferences, and radio shows. I am also a reviewer of the business journals Journal of Business Economics and
Management, Kybernetes and Cornell Hospitality Quarterly.
